Doctoral students advocate for the future of nursing at AACN Student Policy Summit

Four UCLA School of Nursing doctoral students had the opportunity to attend this year’s American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Student Policy Summit in Washington D.C.
Doctor of Nursing Practice students Akemi Martin and David Watkins, along with Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing students Yuriko Matsuo and Marianne Gutierrez, engaged with national healthcare leaders and policymakers to advocate for the nursing profession. The event gives students the chance to meet leaders in the field, learn about federal policy processes, and deepen their understanding of nursing’s role in professional advocacy.
Students were joined in D.C. by several UCLA Nursing faculty members, including by School of Nursing Dean Lin Zhan.
